Does spiderman represent the internet?

Now I know what your thinking when you read the title "I bet he's talking about the fat guys sitting on their computers in Spiderman costumes." well not exactly (though that is part of it). What I mean is that much like peter Parker without the Spiderman suit many people on the internet feel as though no one respects or cares about them, and much in the same way Peter Parker feels empowered when he puts on the suit they feel somehow stronger when they can "hide behind a computer screen".  Or perhaps for some people its backwards maybe they are the Green Goblin online who's to say?
